Synopsis

Our villainess, NIKA, a nihilist goth, and her gay boy-Friday, ENDO, scheme alone in a loft in a building that stabs ominously into the sky. Nika worries that “as long as strip-mall-wives are allowed to use bad fashion as a weapon and all those Prada bitches are making the creative decisions that mold our little girls, we are losing.” Her weapon: a green, Haitian fog she has collected on one of her many expeditions. But how to concentrate its powers and how to spread this voodoo to the right people?

Nika’s green cocaine becomes very popular amongst celebutantes and young money. It’s also big with CEO’s and board members, the people who employ VERI, a freelance marketing consultant and the heroine of our story. Veri is good at her job, magic with men, and a closet bad-ass. She fills her purse with blades instead of mace because “rapists might wear goggles.” She also never touches drugs, which is good because this new Haitian blow has a nasty side-effect: it turns users into flesh-eaters. These zombies are a little different than Nika expected, though. Namely, they look great. The combination of voodoo and yayo creates a race of zombies that really know where to shop. Adorned with kaffiyehs, American Apparel hoodies, and all the ammunition of young Hollywood, these zombies look fabulous while biting out throats and digging for brains.

Veri’s conflict is two-fold: she must fight for her life but, always the career-girl, must also find an advertising angle on the ever more popular zombie fashion movement. With the help of some industry friends/killer chicks, she is able to fight, capture, and market the zombies. Nika continues to create new zombie strains in an attempt to destroy Veri, while Veri and her zombie-slaying friends find new and ingenious ways to market the plague while battling with personal and moral dilemmas. With plenty of fan-friendly homage humor and dark comedy, RE-ANIMATED is sure to find its place in the popular consciousness. If you think you’ve seen it all when it comes to zombies, then you haven’t been RE-ANIMATED!
